I’m not advocating that we return to the glory days of yesteryear where we printed out email, documents, spreadsheets, and even file listings from folders. Thanks to PDFs, email, file sharing, and the cloud, the PC printing business just isn’t what it used to be. Enter Print Window, a mature Mac utility app (it’s been around a few years) that does one thing and does it better than any other solution I’ve run into. It prints a file listing from a folder of files.

Note: If your printer is connected to the USB port on your AirPort device and you have problems scanning, viewing the printer’s utilities, checking ink cartridge status, or viewing error messages, disconnect the printer from the AirPort Time Capsule or AirPort base station and connect it temporarily to your Mac. Choose Apple menu > App Store, then click Updates. Install any software updates listed for your printer. Then, reconnect it to the AirPort Time Capsule or AirPort base station.
If your printer is AirPrint-enabled, it’s compatible with macOS. (For more information, see the Apple Support article About AirPrint.) If your printer isn’t AirPrint-enabled, you can make sure it’s compatible with macOS by checking the Apple Support article Printer and scanner software available for download.

Press the Command ⌘ + Control + Shift + 4 (for older Mac versions use Apple key ⌘+ Control + Shift + 4) all at the same time.
First, get the make and model of the printer. The printer itself should show the model number in a prominent location. Write this down for later.
In the future, you’ll be able to print items just by dropping them on the print icon in your Dock. When you drop, you won’t see the usual print tools, but you will see the printer’s management window in which you can cancel printing if you want.
Connect this printer to a computer with a USB cable.
